While we didn't pay full price for anything at tonight's performance of "Inherent Vice," it was certainly MUCH more than a discount show. Let's see, we had a free ticket from our Regal Cinema's membership, a discounted AAA admission ticket ($8) and a free Regal Cinema's membership small pop that we upgraded to a large ($3, I think) so that's $11 for a movie and pop. If we went to the local discount cinema, we could get a movie, pop and popcorn for $10 for both of us. If only the husband could show a little self restraint. Sigh. Delayed gratification just isn't his style. Except for home improvements. He's all about delaying home improvements.
Where are the local discounts in this area? I miss the old dollar cinema that used to be on Elmwood Ave!
ReplyDeleteAlex, the Movieland theaters on Walden/Harlem are cheap. I don't recall the regular ticket price, but that's where you can get a ticket, pop and popcorn for $5. The theaters themselves are a bit grimy, but a bargain. The McKinley Mall theaters are also cheapies.. a buck or two a ticket, I think. Between those two, all of the major releases and a good many of the indie flicks can be seen. There is also a Tuesday deal at some of the Regals...can't remember exactly what it is, but maybe $5 movie and $2 popcorn. (Though the Regal AARP deal for pop and popcorn is pretty good....maybe $3 off reg price)_
ReplyDeleteAlso, if you are going for the Tuesday bargain, you really need to call be sure the movie you want to see isn't getting some sort of special exclusion from the offer...and you need to be a member of the loyalty club to get the special price (free to join and only takes a few seconds)
