On the coldest months this past winter, I would go feed the ducks. They were in such bad shape, they would cast fear aside and eat right from my hand when I offered (just tried it once, but felt it might be stressful for them). It was fun and likely very helpful for them. (Note: feed cracked corn or other appropriate food. Bread will actually lead them to an early grave even quicker than junk food does with humans). If I had time, I'd go to park benches and feed the ducks during the summer as well. It's almost as much fun for me as it is for the ducks.
